2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize The University of Texas at Arlington and to welcome
4		-	those who are gathering in Austin on April 17, 2025, to
5		-	~~celebrate~~ The University of Texas at Arlington Day at the State
6		-	~~Capitol;~~ and

	11	+	The University of Texas at Arlington Day at the State Capitol;
	12	+	and
7	13		WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1895, The University of
8	14		Texas at Arlington has evolved from its origins as a private
9	15		primary school to serve as a military academy and an agricultural
10	16		junior college before becoming established as the renowned
11	17		research university and community pillar it is today; and
12	18		WHEREAS, The University of Texas at Arlington is currently
13	19		the second-largest university in The University of Texas System
14	20		and has an enrollment of more than 41,000 students; within nine
15	21		colleges, the university offers 180 degree programs in such areas
16	22		of critical need as health care, construction management, big
17	23		data analytics, special education, and engineering; and
18	24		WHEREAS, Ranked as the ninth fastest-growing public
19	25		doctoral institution in the United States, The University of
20	26		Texas at Arlington has earned the prestigious Research 1
21	27		designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of
22	28		Higher Education; through its world-class programs and
23	29		facilities, the university contributes globally impactful
24	30		research and approximately $59 million annually to the national
25	31		economy; and
26	32		WHEREAS, In April of 2025, the university marked a major
27	33		milestone with the groundbreaking of its new west campus, which
28	34		will further advance educational and workforce development in
29	35		one of the nation's most quickly growing regions; the school's
30	36		250,000 alumni also continue to make remarkable economic
31	37		contributions by generating $28.8 billion annually through
32	38		innovation, entrepreneurship, and service; and
33	39		WHEREAS, In 2025, The University of Texas at Arlington
34	40		proudly celebrates 130 years of academic excellence, research
35	41		innovation, and transformative impact, and it is indeed fitting
36	42		to commemorate its enduring legacy and its on going commitment to
37	43		progress in higher education; now, therefore, be it
38	44		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
39	45		Legislature, hereby recognize April 17, 2025, as The University
40	46		of Texas at Arlington Day at the State Capitol and extend to the
41	47		visiting delegation best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
42	48		visit to Austin; and, be it further
43	49		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
44	50		honor of this special occasion.
