SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 419 In Memory of Reuben Booker Harrison WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Reuben Booker Harrison, who died March 19, 2025, at the age of 55; and WHEREAS, Born in Beaumont on June 18, 1969, Booker grew up in Houston and attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory school; he earned a bachelor's degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin, and he went on to earn a master's degree in business administration and a juris doctorate from Texas Tech University; and WHEREAS, Esteemed for his keen legal understanding and deep commitment to public service, Mr. Harrison made significant contributions to environmental law and policy during his outstanding career at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; he excelled as an enforcement attorney and as a senior attorney in the Litigation Division, and he was highly regarded for his experience and insight in areas including air quality and issues of legal ethics; he most recently held the role of senior attorney for the Environmental Law Division, and his exemplary tenure of service with the commission spanned nearly three decades; and WHEREAS, Booker enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones and had an encyclopedic knowledge of films, and he took great pride in his work and in his home state; he was a light in the lives of his colleagues and friends, through his kindness, his engaging sense of humor, and his generous spirit, and he found much joy and fulfillment in his cherished role as godfather to his two godsons; and WHEREAS, Booker Harrison was a treasured Texan who made a lasting and positive impact on environmental law and policy in the Lone Star State; he enriched the lives of all who knew him, and he will long be remembered with great appreciation and affection by the many people who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Reuben Booker Harrison; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Booker Harrison.
