	8	+	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	9	+	join the civic and business leaders of the Coastal Bend in
	10	+	celebrating February 12, 2025, as Coastal Bend Day at the
	11	+	Capitol; and
5	12		WHEREAS, The Coastal Bend community annually offers more
6	13		than 10 million travelers a unique opportunity to experience its
7	14		vibrant culture and natural beauty; these visitors bring
8	15		significant economic support to the region, infuse the City of
9	16		Corpus Christi and surrounding areas with over a billion dollars
10	17		annually, and sustain thousands of jobs; and
11	18		WHEREAS, The Coastal Bend has a rich history and is
12	19		recognized as Texas' only World War II heritage site by the
13	20		National Park Service; this designation honors Naval Air Station
14	21		Corpus Christi, where a training program was held that trained
15	22		more than 35,000 naval aviators who greatly contributed to the
16	23		success of the war effort, and the site continues to inspire
17	24		belief in the value of service and dedication; and
18	25		WHEREAS, The region's many attractions, including Padre
19	26		Island National Seashore, the Texas State Aquarium, the USS
20	27		Lexington aircraft carrier, and a variety of youth and amateur
21	28		sporting events, provide resources for families to come
22	29		together, build lasting memories, and appreciate the natural and
23	30		cultural wealth of the area; and
24	31		WHEREAS, Corpus Christi is the eighth-largest city in
25		-	Texas, and it will soon be home to the state's first
26		-	~~municipally~~ owned seawater desalination facility; The Port of
27		-	~~Corpus Christi~~ is a vital economic engine that brings
28		-	~~opportunity to the Coastal~~ Bend region and supports
29		-	~~significant change and growth for Texas~~ and the nation; and
