2	7		WHEREAS, Community Health Workers/Promotores Advocacy Day
3	8		in Texas is taking place on April 4, 2025, providing a fitting
4	9		opportunity to recognize Día de la Mujer Latina for its many
5	10		achievements; and
6		-	WHEREAS, A nonprofit apprenticeship program for Promotores
7		-	and Community Health Workers, Día de la Mujer Latina was
8		-	established in 1997 to eliminate health disparities and promote
9		-	healthy behaviors within the Latino community; the organization
10		-	serves 43 major cities across the United States as well as
11		-	communities in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico; and

15	21		intercultural competence, behavioral health, and patient
16		-	navigation; the organization also provides access to a wide ~~variety~~
17		-	of services, including early-detection screenings and ~~preventive~~
18		-	care interventions, and it further advances its ~~mission through its~~
19		-	signature health fiestas; in addition, it ~~operates the Telehealth~~
20		-	Community Navigation Contact Center; and

25	31		health and the public health care system into a diversity of
26	32		cultures, languages, and value systems, and in so doing, they
27	33		improve access to health care, social services, and insurance
28		-	statewide; moreover, they conduct outreach programs in residences,
29		-	community centers, clinics, and a variety of other venues; and

30	37		WHEREAS, This year, Community Health Workers/Promotores

34	41		WHEREAS, Promotores and Community Health Workers play a
35	42		critical role in addressing the needs of a significant portion of
36	43		the population, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for
37	44		their invaluable contributions to the health and vitality of the
38	45		Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
39		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the ~~State of~~ Texas~~, 89th~~
40		-	~~Legislature,~~ hereby recognize April 4, 2025, as Community Health
