28 WHEREAS, Dr. Christine Ramos Camacho is serving as Physician
39 of the Day at the State Capitol on April 22 and 24, 2025; and
4- WHEREAS, Since 1971, the Physician of the Day program at
5- the State Capitol has provided for a doctor to be on call each day
6- of a legislative session as a resource for legislators and
7- support staff; family physicians travel from all over the state
8- to volunteer their time and expertise at the Capitol health
9- clinic; and
10+ WHEREAS, Since 1971, the Physician of the Day program at the

1016 WHEREAS, Dr. Camacho will be joined in her service by
1117 resident physician Dr. Auguste Ramos on April 22, 2025, and by
1218 medical student Elliana Yap on April 24; and
1319 WHEREAS, A Laredo native, Dr. Camacho earned her master's
1420 degree in molecular biology from The University of Texas at
1521 San Antonio and her medical degree from the San Juan Bautista
1622 School of Medicine in Puerto Rico; she went on to complete the
17- family medicine residency program at The University of Texas
18- Health Science Center at San Antonio, which she now serves as an
19- assistant professor and a clinical instructor; and
23+ family medicine residency program at The University of Texas Health
24+ Science Center at San Antonio, which she now serves as an assistant
25+ professor and a clinical instructor; and
2026 WHEREAS, Throughout her residency training, Dr. Camacho
21- participated in research projects related to prediabetes,
22- tobacco cessation, health literacy for immigrants, and COVID-19
23- provider wellness; her findings were presented and recognized at
24- a number of state and national conferences, and her dedicated
25- efforts merited her the distinction of Third Year Resident of the
26- Year in 2021; dually board certified in family and obesity
27- medicine, she continues to pursue opportunities for research and
28- community engagement; and
29- WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, Dr. Christine
30- Camacho has provided skilled and compassionate care to her fellow
31- Texans, and it is indeed fitting to honor her for her service to
32- the legislative community; now, therefore, be it
33- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
34- Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Christine Ramos Camacho for her
35- participation in the Physician of the Day program and extend to
36- her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
