7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
39 citizens of Tarrant County in celebrating Tarrant County Days at
410 the State Capitol on February 10 and 11, 2025; and
511 WHEREAS, Created in 1849, Tarrant County has a history
612 rooted in the Old West, having served as the terminus point for
713 cattle drives during the 19th century; the county was named after
814 General Edward H. Tarrant, who commanded Republic of Texas
915 militia forces at the Battle of Village Creek in 1841; and
1016 WHEREAS, Tarrant County has evolved from a frontier
1117 community into a contemporary and cosmopolitan center for
1218 business, education, culture, and tourism; with more than two
1319 million people, it is the third most populous county in Texas;
1420 the county seat, Fort Worth, is the state's fourth-largest city,
1521 and other sizeable communities include Arlington, North Richland
1622 Hills, Euless, Bedford, and Keller; and
1723 WHEREAS, Visitors from across the nation are drawn to such
1824 family-friendly attractions as Six Flags Over Texas and the Fort
1925 Worth Zoo, as well as to sporting events at Globe Life Field,
2026 Choctaw Stadium, and AT&T Stadium, which will host matches for
2127 the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association World
2228 Cup; the county also has an international reputation for art and
2329 history due to the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of
2430 Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the
2531 popular Fort Worth Stockyards National Historical District that
2632 celebrates the city's Western heritage; and
2733 WHEREAS, Tarrant County is home to The University of Texas
2834 at Arlington, a Tier One university, and to The University of
2935 Texas at Arlington Research Institute, which plans to become a
3036 global leader in advanced manufacturing, medical technologies,
3137 applied robotics, and environmental engineering; young Texans in
3238 the county are served by the Arlington Independent School
3339 District and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School
3440 District, which together enroll nearly 80,000 students; and
3541 WHEREAS, In Fort Worth, Texas Christian University
3642 continues to build on its long tradition of excellence, and The
3743 Texas A&M University System makes further investment in their
38- downtown campus and School of Law; the University of North
39- Texas Health Science Center is dedicated to improving health
40- outcomes and workforce for Texans, while Tarrant County
41- College offers residents outstanding and affordable
42- educational opportunities; and
44+ downtown campus and School of Law; the University of North Texas
45+ Health Science Center is dedicated to improving health outcomes
46+ and workforce for Texans, while Tarrant County College offers
47+ residents outstanding and affordable educational opportunities;
48+ and
4349 WHEREAS, Tarrant County has a diversified economy and
4450 benefits from the presence of such major employers as American
4551 Airlines, Lockheed Martin, and General Motors; the county's
4652 thriving business community is served by organizations and local
4753 chambers of commerce that work to promote economic growth and
4854 foster a supportive climate for business; and
4955 WHEREAS, The citizens of Tarrant County continue to honor
5056 their rich and colorful history while building an even brighter
5157 future for the generations to come, and it is indeed fitting that
5258 the residents of Tarrant County receive special recognition on
5359 their achievements and their contributions to the Lone Star
5460 State; now, therefore, be it
5561 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
5662 Legislature, hereby join in celebrating February 10 and 11, 2025,
5763 as Tarrant County Days at the Capitol and extend to the visiting
5864 delegation sincere best wishes for a productive and enjoyable
5965 visit to Austin; and, be it further
6066 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
61- the visiting delegation as an expression of esteem from the
