2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
3	9		citizens of Tarrant County in celebrating Tarrant County Days at
4	10		the State Capitol on February 10 and 11, 2025; and
5	11		WHEREAS, Created in 1849, Tarrant County has a history
6	12		rooted in the Old West, having served as the terminus point for
7	13		cattle drives during the 19th century; the county was named after
8	14		General Edward H. Tarrant, who commanded Republic of Texas
9	15		militia forces at the Battle of Village Creek in 1841; and
10	16		WHEREAS, Tarrant County has evolved from a frontier
11	17		community into a contemporary and cosmopolitan center for
12	18		business, education, culture, and tourism; with more than two
13	19		million people, it is the third most populous county in Texas;
14	20		the county seat, Fort Worth, is the state's fourth-largest city,
15	21		and other sizeable communities include Arlington, North Richland
16	22		Hills, Euless, Bedford, and Keller; and
17	23		WHEREAS, Visitors from across the nation are drawn to such
18	24		family-friendly attractions as Six Flags Over Texas and the Fort
19	25		Worth Zoo, as well as to sporting events at Globe Life Field,
20	26		Choctaw Stadium, and AT&T Stadium, which will host matches for
21	27		the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association World
22	28		Cup; the county also has an international reputation for art and
23	29		history due to the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of
24	30		Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the
25	31		popular Fort Worth Stockyards National Historical District that
26	32		celebrates the city's Western heritage; and
27	33		WHEREAS, Tarrant County is home to The University of Texas
28	34		at Arlington, a Tier One university, and to The University of
29	35		Texas at Arlington Research Institute, which plans to become a
30	36		global leader in advanced manufacturing, medical technologies,
31	37		applied robotics, and environmental engineering; young Texans in
32	38		the county are served by the Arlington Independent School
33	39		District and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School
34	40		District, which together enroll nearly 80,000 students; and
35	41		WHEREAS, In Fort Worth, Texas Christian University
36	42		continues to build on its long tradition of excellence, and The
37	43		Texas A&M University System makes further investment in their
38		-	downtown campus and School of Law; the University of North
39		-	~~Texas~~ Health Science Center is dedicated to improving health
40		-	~~outcomes~~ and workforce for Texans, while Tarrant County
41		-	~~College offers~~ residents outstanding and affordable
42		-	~~educational opportunities;~~ and
	44	+	downtown campus and School of Law; the University of North Texas
	45	+	Health Science Center is dedicated to improving health outcomes
	46	+	and workforce for Texans, while Tarrant County College offers
	47	+	residents outstanding and affordable educational opportunities;
	48	+	and
43	49		WHEREAS, Tarrant County has a diversified economy and
44	50		benefits from the presence of such major employers as American
45	51		Airlines, Lockheed Martin, and General Motors; the county's
46	52		thriving business community is served by organizations and local
47	53		chambers of commerce that work to promote economic growth and
48	54		foster a supportive climate for business; and
49	55		WHEREAS, The citizens of Tarrant County continue to honor
50	56		their rich and colorful history while building an even brighter
51	57		future for the generations to come, and it is indeed fitting that
52	58		the residents of Tarrant County receive special recognition on
53	59		their achievements and their contributions to the Lone Star
54	60		State; now, therefore, be it
55	61		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
56	62		Legislature, hereby join in celebrating February 10 and 11, 2025,
57	63		as Tarrant County Days at the Capitol and extend to the visiting
58	64		delegation sincere best wishes for a productive and enjoyable
59	65		visit to Austin; and, be it further
60	66		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
61		-	the visiting delegation as an expression of esteem from the
