7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
58 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6- commemorates the life of Stanley C. Parker, who died
7- September 15, 2024, at the age of 65; and
8- WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Stan Parker was born
9- April 28, 1959; he graduated from Richfield High School, and he
10- married Valerie Prewett, his high school sweetheart, on
11- August 16, 1980; and
9+ commemorates the life of Stanley C. Parker, who died September
10+ 15, 2024, at the age of 65; and
11+ WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Stan Parker was born April 28,
12+ 1959; he graduated from Richfield High School, and he married Valerie
13+ Prewett, his high school sweetheart, on August 16, 1980; and
1214 WHEREAS, Stan found professional success as an
1315 entrepreneur, but he was better known by his passion for
1416 philanthropy and service to veterans; in 2017, he established the
1517 Stan C. Parker Foundation to provide advocacy, education, and
1618 resources to citizens in need, and the organization has supported
1719 hundreds of local veterans through initiatives such as the annual
1820 Waco Veterans Parade and the establishment of Freedom's Path
1921 Waco, a housing project for homeless veterans set to be completed
2022 in late 2025; and
2123 WHEREAS, A dedicated Freemason, Stan held numerous
2224 leadership positions during his decades of service and
2325 membership in the organization, and he was proud to hold the
2426 highest honors in the Scottish and York Rites; and
2527 WHEREAS, Stan and Valerie shared 44 rewarding years of
2628 marriage together; he was a devoted father to their children, Austin
2729 and Jessica, and his two grandchildren enriched his life
2830 immeasurably; and
2931 WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Stan enjoyed hunting,
3032 barbecuing, archaeology, and restoring classic cars; he was an
3133 esteemed member of the Waco community, and he will long be
3234 remembered with admiration and appreciation by all who were
3335 privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
3436 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3537 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3638 family of Stanley C. Parker; and, be it further
3739 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3840 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3941 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4042 memory of Stan Parker.
