5	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6		-	commemorates the life of Stanley C. Parker, who died
7		-	September 15, 2024, at the age of 65; and
8		-	WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Stan Parker was born
9		-	April 28, 1959; he graduated from Richfield High School, and he
10		-	married Valerie Prewett, his high school sweetheart, on
11		-	August 16, 1980; and
	9	+	commemorates the life of Stanley C. Parker, who died September
	10	+	15, 2024, at the age of 65; and
	11	+	WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Stan Parker was born April 28,
	12	+	1959; he graduated from Richfield High School, and he married Valerie
	13	+	Prewett, his high school sweetheart, on August 16, 1980; and
12	14		WHEREAS, Stan found professional success as an
13	15		entrepreneur, but he was better known by his passion for
14	16		philanthropy and service to veterans; in 2017, he established the
15	17		Stan C. Parker Foundation to provide advocacy, education, and
16	18		resources to citizens in need, and the organization has supported
17	19		hundreds of local veterans through initiatives such as the annual
18	20		Waco Veterans Parade and the establishment of Freedom's Path
19	21		Waco, a housing project for homeless veterans set to be completed
20	22		in late 2025; and
21	23		WHEREAS, A dedicated Freemason, Stan held numerous
22	24		leadership positions during his decades of service and
23	25		membership in the organization, and he was proud to hold the
24	26		highest honors in the Scottish and York Rites; and
25	27		WHEREAS, Stan and Valerie shared 44 rewarding years of
26	28		marriage together; he was a devoted father to their children, Austin
27	29		and Jessica, and his two grandchildren enriched his life
28	30		immeasurably; and
29	31		WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Stan enjoyed hunting,
30	32		barbecuing, archaeology, and restoring classic cars; he was an
31	33		esteemed member of the Waco community, and he will long be
32	34		remembered with admiration and appreciation by all who were
33	35		privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
34	36		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
35	37		Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
36	38		family of Stanley C. Parker; and, be it further
37	39		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
38	40		his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
39	41		Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
40	42		memory of Stan Parker.
