5- WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with
6- the passing of Charles Floyd Cosper of Hereford on Sunday,

8+ WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
9+ passing of Charles Floyd Cosper of Hereford on Sunday, April 7,
10+ 2024, at the age of 85; and
811 WHEREAS, The son of Virgil Cosper and the former Roxie
912 Sherman, Chuck Cosper was born in Paducah on February 15, 1939, and
1013 grew up with a sister, Janette, and brother, Bobby; he graduated
1114 from the Texas Game Warden Training Academy at Texas A&M University
1215 before embarking on a career as a game warden that spanned three
1316 decades; he was also a pilot who worked from Friona Airport as a
1417 crop sprayer and flight instructor; and
1518 WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Cosper was a longtime
1619 deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of the Texas Baptist Men
17- Retiree Builders for 14 years; along the way, he served as
18- president of Hereford Kids Inc. and the Hereford Booster Club, and
19- he was an enthusiastic supporter of Hereford High School athletics,
20- proudly earning recognition as the Fan of the Week; and
21- WHEREAS, Mr. Cosper met his wife, Sue, in the seventh
22- grade; the couple married on November 15, 1957, and went on to
23- share a rewarding union that spanned 66 years; they became the
24- parents of four children, Pam, Ken, Vickie, and Larry, and their
25- family eventually grew to include 7 grandchildren and 12
26- great-grandchildren; an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Cosper took
27- pleasure in hunting, fishing, playing golf, and snow skiing; he
28- also loved to chat with friends over an afternoon coffee; and
29- WHEREAS, Chuck Cosper earned the admiration and affection
30- of innumerable people, and although he is deeply missed, his
20+ Retiree Builders for 14 years; along the way, he served as president
21+ of Hereford Kids Inc. and the Hereford Booster Club, and he was an
22+ enthusiastic supporter of Hereford High School athletics, proudly
23+ earning recognition as the Fan of the Week; and
24+ WHEREAS, Mr. Cosper met his wife, Sue, in the seventh grade;

34- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
35- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Floyd
36- Cosper and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
37- to his wife, Sue Cosper; to his children, Pam Boren and her
38- husband, Jay, Ken Cosper and his wife, Markay, and Vickie Young
39- and her husband, Darren; to his grandchildren, Heath Boren and
40- his wife, Kim, J. W. Boren and his wife, Belinda, Nathan Young and
41- his wife, Alyson, Jarrod Young and his wife, Katie, and Abbey,
42- Jack, and Sam Cosper; to his great-grandchildren, Colby, Ava,
43- Lilly, Brock, Emory, Isaiah, Zeke, Slade, Saylor, Sloane, Ellie,
44- and Jake; to his sister, Janette Abraham, and her husband, Greg;
45- and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
37+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
38+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Floyd Cosper and extend
39+ sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Sue
40+ Cosper; to his children, Pam Boren and her husband, Jay, Ken Cosper
41+ and his wife, Markay, and Vickie Young and her husband, Darren; to
42+ his grandchildren, Heath Boren and his wife, Kim, J. W. Boren and
43+ his wife, Belinda, Nathan Young and his wife, Alyson, Jarrod Young
44+ and his wife, Katie, and Abbey, Jack, and Sam Cosper; to his

4649 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
47- prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
48- this day, it do so in memory of Chuck Cosper.
