8+ WHEREAS, Mental health is essential to the overall health and
9+ well-being of every individual, and the observance of National
10+ Mental Health Awareness Month in May provides an opportunity to
11+ highlight the need for greater empathy and support for Texans
12+ experiencing mental health issues; and
713 WHEREAS, According to the National Alliance on Mental
8- Illness, approximately one in every five Americans, including
9- more than 4.7 million adults in Texas, lives with a mental
10- illness; these conditions affect people of all ages, races,
11- ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and though they are
12- common and treatable, the stigma associated with them can be an
13- obstacle to treatment, recovery, and social acceptance; and

43- community organizations, peer advocates, families,
44- professionals, and policymakers across the state to advance
45- these worthy goals; now, therefore, be it
46- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
47- Legislature, hereby recognize May 2025 as Mental Health
48- Awareness Month and encourage all Texans to join in supporting
49- mental health services, education, and outreach in their
50- communities.
