7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 recognize Royce Chadwick, who is retiring as head women's
410 basketball coach of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi after a
511 long and distinguished career in coaching; and
612 WHEREAS, Previous to joining the Islanders in Corpus
713 Christi, Royce Chadwick enjoyed nearly three decades of coaching
814 success, including approximately 1,000 total career games, at
915 Marshall University, Stephen F. Austin University, Sam Houston
1016 State University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and
1117 Howard Junior College; and
1218 WHEREAS, Coach Chadwick began his tenure at Texas A&M
1319 University--Corpus Christi in 2012, and he has since become the
1420 winningest coach in Southland Conference history; during the
1521 2023-2024 season, he also became the first men's or women's
1622 basketball coach in the university's history to reach a 750-win
1723 total in his career; and
1824 WHEREAS, An exemplary coach, colleague, and mentor, Royce
1925 Chadwick has had a positive impact on the lives of countless
2026 young people, and his presence at Texas A&M University--Corpus
2127 Christi will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
2228 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
2329 Legislature, hereby commend Royce Chadwick on his illustrious
2430 career as a basketball coach and extend to him best wishes for
2531 continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
2632 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2733 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
