No. 487 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Corpus Christi Ballet on the grand occasion of the company's 50th anniversary; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1974, Corpus Christi Ballet has remained committed to its mission to stimulate, promote, and develop interest in the art of ballet in South Texas through performance and education; over the last half-century, the company has captivated audiences with stunning presentations of famous classics and productions of high artistic quality; and WHEREAS, Corpus Christi Ballet provides a medium for expression through which performers, choreographers, and composers may further their education in ballet, jazz, modern dance, and performance production; each year, the ballet casts more than 200 students to perform classical and modern works, enabling thousands of young dancers throughout the company's history to learn, perform, and thrive on stage with artistic professionals as they entertain and educate captivated audiences; and WHEREAS, In addition to marking 50 years of Coastal Bend performances in 2025, the ballet company is also celebrating 40 years of success under the international experience and astute leadership of artistic director Cristina Stirling Munro, an Emmy Award-winning dancer, producer, and choreographer; and WHEREAS, Corpus Christi Ballet has enriched the lives of thousands of dancers, aspiring performers, and patrons of the arts in the Lone Star State, and its 50th anniversary is truly cause for celebration; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commend the company members, directors, and supporters of Corpus Christi Ballet for their outstanding contributions to this exemplary cultural institution in South Texas and extend to all congratulations on five decades of success and best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Corpus Christi Ballet as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
