| 6 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded on November |

| 7 | 13 | | 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C.; |

| 8 | 14 | | the first national fraternal organization to be founded at a |

| 9 | 15 | | historically Black college, Omega Psi Phi now has more than 750 |

|---|
| 11 | | - | WHEREAS, For more than a century, its members have promoted |

| 12 | | - | the fraternity's Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, |
|---|
| 13 | | - | Perseverance, and Uplift; through character building, leadership |
|---|
| 14 | | - | development, and comradeship, the fraternity has built a dynamic |

| 15 | | - | force of men dedicated to serving their communities, advancing |
|---|
| 16 | | - | opportunities for African Americans, and empowering others; and |
|---|

| 20 | 27 | | served as a role model to countless brothers; and |

| 21 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Blackburn is truly deserving of recognition |

| 22 | 29 | | for his longtime membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and for |
|---|
| 23 | 30 | | the role he has played in carrying out the fraternity's mission |

| 24 | 31 | | to empower individuals and serve the community; now, therefore, |

| 26 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

| 27 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Lew Blackburn on his many |

| 29 | 36 | | congratulations on being honored by the Theta Alpha Chapter as a |
