2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize Jeffrey Hamilton, a 50-year member of Omega Psi Phi
4	10		Fraternity, Incorporated, who is being honored by the Theta Alpha
5	11		Chapter of Dallas; and
6		-	WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded on
7		-	November 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University in
8		-	Washington, D.C.; the first national fraternal organization to
9		-	be founded at a historically Black college, Omega Psi Phi now has
10		-	more than 750 chapters worldwide; and
11		-	WHEREAS, For more than a century, its members have promoted
12		-	the fraternity's Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship,
13		-	Perseverance, and Uplift; through character building, leadership
14		-	development, and comradeship, the fraternity has built a dynamic
15		-	force of men dedicated to serving their communities, advancing
16		-	opportunities for African Americans, and empowering others; and
	12	+	WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded on November

17	24		WHEREAS, Jeffrey Hamilton was inducted into the Theta
18	25		Sigma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on December 5, 1975;
19	26		over the years, he has remained a loyal member of the fraternity
20	27		and has served as a role model to countless brothers; and
21	28		WHEREAS, Jeffrey is truly deserving of recognition for his
22	29		longtime membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and for the role
23	30		he has played in carrying out the fraternity's mission to empower
24	31		individuals and serve the community; now, therefore, be it
25	32		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
26	33		Legislature, hereby commend Jeffery Hamilton on his many
27	34		achievements and contributions to his community and extend to him
28	35		congratulations on being honored by the Theta Alpha Chapter as a
29	36		50-year member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; and, be it further
30	37		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
31	38		him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
