7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 recognize Austin Habitat for Humanity on the occasion of its 40th
410 anniversary and on its collaboration with the 2025 Carter Work
511 Project; and
612 WHEREAS, For four decades, the staff, donors, community
7- partners, and volunteers of Austin Habitat for Humanity have worked
8- to uphold the organization's core principle and belief that all
9- people deserve a safe and affordable place to live by building a
10- better future for Central Texans and by strengthening communities
11- in Bastrop, Blanco, Caldwell, Hays, and Travis Counties; and
13+ partners, and volunteers of Austin Habitat for Humanity have
14+ worked to uphold the organization's core principle and belief
15+ that all people deserve a safe and affordable place to live by
16+ building a better future for Central Texans and by strengthening
17+ communities in Bastrop, Blanco, Caldwell, Hays, and Travis
18+ Counties; and
1219 WHEREAS, In addition to enabling the construction of
1320 homes, Austin Habitat for Humanity expands access for families to
1421 obtain affordable housing by addressing such issues as
1522 marginalization, land use policy, and high population density in
1623 Central Texas; and
17- WHEREAS, Austin Habitat for Humanity will celebrate 40 years
18- of advocacy in May of 2025, and it will continue its commitment to
19- service throughout the anniversary year by hosting the 2025 Jimmy
20- and Rosalynn Carter Work Project from October 26 through 31; this
21- highly anticipated annual event has traveled to locations
22- nationally and worldwide to unite thousands of volunteers,
23- officials, and public figures to build homes and to highlight the
24- critical need for affordable homeownership opportunities; this
25- year's event in eastern Travis County will begin construction on
26- the first fully geothermal neighborhood in the United States; and
24+ WHEREAS, Austin Habitat for Humanity will celebrate 40
25+ years of advocacy in May of 2025, and it will continue its
26+ commitment to service throughout the anniversary year by hosting
27+ the 2025 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project from October 26

3139 historic event in concurrance with its 40th anniversary
3240 celebration; now, therefore, be it
3341 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3442 Legislature, hereby commend the staff, volunteers, and
35- stakeholders of Austin Habitat for Humanity on their contributions
36- to housing accessibility in Central Texas and extend to all best
37- wishes for a memorable anniversary celebration and for a successful
38- and rewarding 2025 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project event;
39- and, be it further
40- RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
41- organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
