7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 welcome members of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs who are
410 gathering in Austin on May 13, 2025, to celebrate Texas
511 Federation of Women's Clubs Day at the State Capitol; and
612 WHEREAS, Founded in Waco in 1897, this esteemed network of
713 community leaders operates as the General Federation of Women's
814 Clubs of Texas, and it upholds its mission to empower women and
915 create positive change locally through the efforts of more than
1016 2,000 members across 78 factions; and
11- WHEREAS, Each year, the General Federation of Women's Clubs
12- of Texas awards numerous scholarships to support students who are
13- pursuing higher education in Texas, and in 2024, members
17+ WHEREAS, Each year, the General Federation of Women's
18+ Clubs of Texas awards numerous scholarships to support students
19+ who are pursuing higher education in Texas, and in 2024, members
1420 statewide directed nearly 96,000 volunteer hours into 2,245
1521 community service projects and donated approximately $400,000 in
1622 monetary gifts and $190,000 in in-kind contributions; and
1723 WHEREAS, The General Federation of Women's Clubs of Texas
1824 is honoring its historic legacy of 128 years of meaningful
1925 service with a current commitment to address human trafficking,
2026 one of the most urgent and devastating forms of violence against
2127 women and children; and
2228 WHEREAS, The federation fosters a culture of successful
2329 women who are ready to reach their goals by providing its club
2430 members with opportunities to serve and encourage others and to
2531 build strong relationships; and
2632 WHEREAS, All associated with the Texas Federation of
2733 Women's Clubs are truly deserving of special recognition for
2834 their efforts to improve lives, empower women, and strengthen
2935 communities in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
3036 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3137 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the General
3238 Federation of Women's Clubs of Texas on their unwavering
3339 commitment to increasing the volunteerism, leadership, and
3440 advocacy of Texas women and extend to all best wishes for a
3541 memorable visit to Austin; and, be it further
3642 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3743 the federation as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
