SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 51 WHEREAS, National Vending Day is taking place on March 6, 2025; and WHEREAS, The observance was established by the National Automatic Merchandising Association to recognize the many contributions of the vending and convenience services industry; in Texas, the industry generates more than $2.3 billion in the state's economy, $691.7 million in wages, and nearly $200 million in tax revenue; and WHEREAS, The vending industry encompasses a wide variety of unattended retail services, including traditional vending machines and micro markets, office coffee and pantry services, manufacturing, and small-drop distribution; in addition, the industry uses innovative technologies to deliver food, beverages, and other items to consumers; and WHEREAS, To promote public health, the vending and convenience services industry has committed to increasing the percentage of healthy food and beverages in vending machines nationwide; the industry has also worked to offer options to food deserts and underserved communities through its supply chain, commissary, and "last-foot" distribution services; during the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry provided essential services to support first responders and other critical businesses; and WHEREAS, The vending and convenience services industry has contributed significantly to the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and all those involved in this important sector are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby recognize March 6, 2025, as National Vending Day.
