7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
8+ WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
9+ join the American Warrior Association in recognizing May 14,
10+ 2025, as Texas Moral Injury Awareness Day; and
511 WHEREAS, Moral injury is defined as emotional damage
612 inflicted on the conscience or moral compass of an individual who
7- perpetrated, witnessed, or failed to prevent acts that transgress
8- one's moral beliefs, values, or ethical codes of conduct; and

14+ transgress one's moral beliefs, values, or ethical codes of
15+ conduct; and
916 WHEREAS, Based in Fort Worth, the American Warrior
1017 Association has made a bold and historic effort to address moral
11- injury and overall wellness through the launch of a public-private
12- partnership called "R3: Respond. Restore. Resolve."; and
13- WHEREAS, By integrating emotional, physical, and spiritual
14- support, the R3 program provides a comprehensive and holistic
15- approach to healing for those who selflessly serve in the line of
16- duty, including military members, veterans, and first responders;
17- and
18- WHEREAS, The American Warrior Association offers a wide array
19- of support services with the goal to honor and improve the
18+ injury and overall wellness through the launch of a
19+ public-private partnership called "R3: Respond. Restore.
20+ Resolve."; and
21+ WHEREAS, By integrating emotional, physical, and
22+ spiritual support, the R3 program provides a comprehensive and
23+ holistic approach to healing for those who selflessly serve in
24+ the line of duty, including military members, veterans, and first
25+ responders; and
26+ WHEREAS, The American Warrior Association offers a wide
27+ array of support services with the goal to honor and improve the
2028 well-being of our nation's heroes, which also aligns with R3's
21- mission to heal, support, and foster resilience in those affected by
22- moral injury; and
23- WHEREAS, The R3 program provides access to critical tools and
24- resources through training, culturally competent counseling, and
25- access to non-clinical preventative care designed to reduce stigma
26- and strengthen service members' ability to de-escalate situations
27- and process trauma; this vital initiative allows the American
28- Warrior Association to promote a healthier first responder and
29- veteran workforce in our state, which leads to improved wellness,
30- lower absenteeism, and stronger community ties; and
29+ mission to heal, support, and foster resilience in those affected
30+ by moral injury; and
31+ WHEREAS, The R3 program provides access to critical tools

3645 indeed fitting that a day be set aside to raise awareness about
3746 this important issue; now, therefore, be it
3847 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3948 Legislature, hereby recognize May 14, 2025, as Texas Moral Injury
40- Awareness Day and commend all who contribute to the mission of the
41- American Warrior Association for their outstanding efforts to serve
42- our nation's first responders, veterans, and military service
43- members; and, be it further
44- RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
45- association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
