7+ R E S O L U T I O N
28 WHEREAS, Captain Chris Kemp is retiring from Lubbock Fire
39 Rescue on May 17, 2025, drawing to a close more than 25 years of
410 dedicated service to the city; and
511 WHEREAS, Following in both his father's and brother's
6- footsteps, Chris Kemp joined Lubbock Fire Rescue in August 1999;
7- he was promoted to equipment operator in March 2007 and to
8- lieutenant in December 2011, and he went on to serve as captain
9- for over a decade; and
12+ footsteps, Chris Kemp joined Lubbock Fire Rescue in August 1999; he
13+ was promoted to equipment operator in March 2007 and to lieutenant
14+ in December 2011, and he went on to serve as captain for over a
15+ decade; and
1016 WHEREAS, Captain Kemp has further contributed to his
1117 community through his efforts as president of the Lubbock
1218 Professional Firefighters Association; during his tenure, he
1319 played a vital role in the LPFFA's COATS4KIDS initiative, which
1420 delivers winter jackets to local children in need; in retirement,
15- he plans to stay involved with COATS4KIDS and to spend time with
16- his family; and
17- WHEREAS, Chris Kemp's leadership, hard work, and
18- commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of
19- Lubbock and earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow
20- first responders, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a
21- career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of
22- his life; now, therefore, be it
23- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
24- Legislature, hereby congratulate Captain Chris Kemp on his
25- retirement from Lubbock Fire Rescue and extend to him sincere
26- best wishes for the future; and, be it further
21+ he plans to stay involved with COATS4KIDS and to spend time with his
22+ family; and
23+ WHEREAS, Chris Kemp's leadership, hard work, and commitment
24+ to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of Lubbock and
25+ earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow first
26+ responders, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well
27+ spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now,
28+ therefore, be it
29+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
30+ hereby congratulate Captain Chris Kemp on his retirement from
31+ Lubbock Fire Rescue and extend to him sincere best wishes for the

2733 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
