4- their participation in the Latina Leadership Institute; and

8+ WHEREAS, A number of engaged citizens are working to build an
9+ even brighter future for the San Antonio community through their
10+ participation in the Latina Leadership Institute; and
511 WHEREAS, Established in 2015 by the San Antonio Hispanic
612 Chamber of Commerce, LLI seeks to increase the representation of
713 Hispanic women in elected and appointed offices at the local,
814 state, and national levels by equipping them with the knowledge and
915 skills necessary to succeed in their political aspirations; and
1016 WHEREAS, A six-month program, LLI provides a highly
11- personalized experience and a supportive learning environment
12- and offers insight from a host of civic and political leaders;
13- since the initiative's founding, many of its graduates have gone
14- on to serve on boards, run for office, pursue higher education,
15- and start nonprofit organizations; and
16- WHEREAS, Participants in the Latina Leadership Institute
17- are demonstrating an admirable commitment to making a positive
18- difference in the world around them, and they are indeed
19- deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
20- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
21- Legislature, hereby commend the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of
22- Commerce Latina Leadership Institute and extend to all those
23- associated with the program sincere best wishes for the future;
24- and, be it further
