8+ WHEREAS, Wayne R. Maynard of Dallas is being recognized with
9+ the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 41st annual
410 Governor's Volunteer Awards on April 23, 2025; and
5- WHEREAS, Each year, the Governor's Volunteer Awards honor
6- the exemplary service of individuals, groups, and organizations
7- that have made significant contributions to Texas communities;
8- the awards are presented by the governor of Texas and
9- administered by OneStar; and
11+ WHEREAS, Each year, the Governor's Volunteer Awards honor the

1016 WHEREAS, Wayne Maynard has served for more than two decades
1117 as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight South Central; after flying
12- his brother-in-law to cancer treatment, he was inspired to lend
13- his skill and expertise to the organization; the Tulsa,
14- Oklahoma-based nonprofit transports people in rural areas to and
15- from urban medical centers for dialysis, chemotherapy, and other
16- procedures; and
17- WHEREAS, Since 2004, Mr. Maynard has completed more than
18- 300 missions at his own cost; as Northeast Texas wing leader and
19- later as chair of the AFSC board, he expanded pilot recruitment,
20- revamped bylaws, and established a pilot recognition program; he
21- has secured more than $1 million in donations for the
22- organization through such initiatives as the annual Mission
23- Possible: Soaring Hearts Gala and fundraising solo flights to the
24- North Pole; and
25- WHEREAS, Wayne Maynard has set an inspiring example
26- through his long record of service to a lifesaving organization,
27- and he is richly deserving of this prestigious accolade; now,
28- therefore, be it
29- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
30- Legislature, hereby congratulate Wayne R. Maynard on receiving
31- the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award and extend to him
32- sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
