2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize former United States Congresswoman Kay Granger, who is
4	10		being honored as the 2025 Fort Worth Inc. Person of the Year for
5	11		her contributions to the business and economic landscape of Fort
6	12		Worth; and
7		-	WHEREAS, Kay Granger began her decades of public service to
8		-	the Fort Worth community on the zoning commission and as a ~~member~~
9		-	of the Fort Worth City Council, and she earned esteem as ~~the first~~
10		-	woman to be elected as the city's mayor; and

11	17		WHEREAS, A tenacious trailblazer, Kay continued to promote
12	18		the welfare of the city as the first Republican woman to
13	19		represent Texas in the United States House of Representatives,
14	20		and in her role as a member and later as chair of the House
15	21		Appropriations Committee, she shaped policies that fueled
16	22		regional growth and positioned Fort Worth as a hub for innovation
17	23		and as a leader in aerospace, defense, and commerce; and
18	24		WHEREAS, Kay Granger devoted her career to elevating Fort
19	25		Worth's presence in the global economy; she is an equal among the
20	26		Lone Star State's many venerated political figures, and she
21	27		retired from Congress on January 3, 2025, having improved the
22	28		lives of innumerable citizens; now, therefore, be it
23	29		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
24	30		Legislature, hereby commend Kay Granger for her decades of public
25	31		service to benefit Fort Worth residents and industries and
26	32		congratulate her on being named the Fort Worth Inc. Person of the
27	33		Year; and, be it further
28	34		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
29	35		her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
