5	8		WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Arlington police officer
6		-	Darrin Curtis McMichael on September 21, 2023, at the age of 51,
7		-	~~has~~ brought a tremendous loss to his family, colleagues, and
8		-	~~friends;~~ and

9	12		WHEREAS, Darrin McMichael was born in Arlington on
10	13		December 20, 1971, to Garry and Peggy McMichael; he attended Sam
11		-	Houston High School, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team;
12		-	he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from The University of
13		-	~~Texas at~~ Arlington with a double major in English and exercise
14		-	~~and sport~~ science; and

15	18		WHEREAS, Known to many as "Boots," Officer McMichael worked

17		-	1999; he served as a patrol officer and detective in the North

18	21		Patrol District, and for the last 13 years, he was a member of the

21	24		WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer McMichael benefited

24		-	children, Kearsten and Treaver; over the years, he had the
25		-	~~pleasure~~ of welcoming into his family two grandchildren, Daxtyn
26		-	~~and Brextyn;~~ in his leisure hours, he enjoyed traveling, tending
27		-	~~to animals on~~ the Lone Oak Farm, and above all else spending time
28		-	~~with his loved~~ ones; and

32		-	~~remain a~~ source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough
33		-	~~to know him;~~ now, therefore, be it
34		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the ~~State of~~ Texas~~, 89th~~
35		-	~~Legislature,~~ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Darrin
36		-	~~Curtis McMichael~~ and extend sincere condolences to his family and
37		-	~~many friends; and,~~ be it further
