28 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Chapter of the Recording
39 Academy are gathering in Austin on February 18, 2025, in
410 celebration of the unique musical heritage of our state; and
5- WHEREAS, The birthplace of such distinctive styles as
6- Texas country and Tejano, the Lone Star State has produced
7- culturally significant artists in every musical genre; at the
8- Recording Academy's 67th annual Grammy Awards and 25th annual
9- Latin Grammy Awards, Texas nominees and winners across multiple
10- categories included Beyoncé, Erykah Badu, Kirk Franklin, Post
11- Malone, Charley Crockett, Yolanda Adams, Khruangbin, Sue Foley,
12- Ruthie Foster, Sangeeta Kaur, Israel and New Breed, Jamestown
13- Revival, Shauna and Sarah Dodds, Grupo Frontera, Intocable, and
14- El Plan, along with many who work behind the scenes, among them
15- producers, engineers, and songwriters; and
11+ WHEREAS, The birthplace of such distinctive styles as Texas

1622 WHEREAS, A number of Texas artists have been honored in
1723 recent years with the prestigious Recording Academy Lifetime
1824 Achievement Award, including Corpus Christi native Selena
19- Quintanilla-Perez and Dallas-Fort Worth native DJ Spinderella as
20- a member of Salt-N-Pepa; in addition, Texas claimed back-to-back

2127 recipients of the academy's Music Educator of the Year Award with

24- Advanced Learning Academy and Fox Tech and CAST Tech High Schools
25- in San Antonio; and

2632 WHEREAS, Established in 1998, the Texas Chapter of the
27- Recording Academy is dedicated to advancing music education,
28- which enriches the lives of countless students, and promoting an
29- industry that generates tens of billions of dollars for the
30- state; tied to an estimated 210,000-plus jobs, the economic
31- sector is also supported by the efforts of the Texas Music
32- Office, created by the Texas Legislature for that purpose; and
33+ Recording Academy is dedicated to advancing music education, which
34+ enriches the lives of countless students, and promoting an industry
35+ that generates tens of billions of dollars for the state; tied to an
36+ estimated 210,000-plus jobs, the economic sector is also supported
37+ by the efforts of the Texas Music Office, created by the Texas
38+ Legislature for that purpose; and
3339 WHEREAS, The music industry enhances the prosperity of the
3440 Lone Star State and contributes significantly to the vibrancy of
35- American culture, and it is a pleasure to acknowledge its
36- important role; now, therefore, be it
37- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
38- Legislature, hereby recognize February 18, 2025, as Texas Music
39- Advocacy Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes
40- for continued success to the members of the Texas Chapter of the
41- Recording Academy.
