SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Military Food Security 4
Act of 2023’’. 5

SEC. 2. BASIC NEEDS ALLOWANCE: EXCLUSION OF BASIC 1
ALLOWANCE FOR HOUSING FROM THE CAL-2
CULATION OF GROSS HOUSEHOLD INCOME 3
OF AN ELIGIBLE MEMBER OF THE ARMED 4
FORCES. 5
Section 402b(k)(1)(B) of title 37, United States 6
Code, is amended— 7
(1) by striking ‘‘in’’ and all that follows 8
through ‘‘portion of’’; and 9
(2) by striking ‘‘that the Secretary concerned 10
elects to exclude’’ and inserting ‘‘paid to such mem-11
ber’’. 12
