6161 than 240 days after the Secretary issues 2
6262 regulations under clause (i), the Secretary 3
6363 shall submit to the Congress a report on 4
6464 the status of benefits reissued under such 5
6565 regulations that includes— 6
6666 ‘‘(I) a detailed description of the 7
6767 prevalence of stolen benefits for which 8
6868 benefits are reissued under such regu-9
6969 lations; 10
7070 ‘‘(II) an examination of current 11
7171 barriers, feasibility, and impact on 12
7272 participant access and ease of use in 13
7373 developing an electronic benefit trans-14
7474 fer card that contains innovative tech-15
7575 nologies such as an embedded 16
7676 microchip along with the traditional 17
7777 magnetic stripe; and 18
7878 ‘‘(III) such other information as 19
7979 by the Secretary considers to be ap-20
8080 propriate. 21

8383 REPORT.—Not later than 120 days after 23
8484 end of each fiscal year that begins after 24

9797 VALUATION.—To maximize the 8
9898 accessibility and security of electronic ben-9
9999 efit transfer cards, the Secretary shall pe-10
100100 riodically review and modify such regula-11
101101 tions to take into account evolving tech-12
102102 nology and the threat landscape to better 13
103103 protect against benefit theft.’’. 14
