49-UBLIC SAFETY RESEARCH .—Not later than 9
50-60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, 10
51-the Director, acting through the head of the Public 11
52-Safety and Communications Research Division and 12
53-in consultation with the Fire Research Division and 13
54-technology manufacturers, shall carry out research on 14
55-the following: 15
56-(A) Public safety communication coordina-16
57-tion standards among Federal, State, Tribal, 17
58-and local wildland firefighters, fire management 18
59-response officials, and member agencies. 19
60-(B) Improving and integrating existing 20
61-communications systems to transmit secure real- 21
62-time data, alerts, and advisories to and from fire 22
63-management response officials and wildland fire-23
64-fighters. 24

34+agency’’ means a member agency of the National 5
35+Interagency Fire Center, including the Bureau of In-6
36+dian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, National 7
37+Park Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric 8
38+Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, For-9
39+est Service, United States Fire Administration, and 10
40+the Department of Defense. 11

42+ILDLAND FIREFIGHTER .—The term 12
43+‘‘wildland firefighter’’ means any person who partici-13
44+pates in wildland firefighting activities. 14

46+IRE MANAGEMENT RESPONSE OFFI -15
47+CIALS.—The term ‘‘fire management response offi-16
48+cials’’ means regional fire directors, deputy regional 17
49+fire directors, agency officials who directly oversee 18
50+fire operations, fire management officers, and indi-19
51+viduals serving on incident management teams. 20

53+ECHNOLOGY MANUFACTURERS .—The term 21
54+‘‘technology manufacturers’’ means companies that 22
55+manufacture communications technologies used by 23
56+Federal, State, Tribal, and local wildland fire au-24
57+thorities. 25

70+(1) public safety communication coordination 9
71+standards among Federal, State, Tribal, and local 10
72+wildland firefighters, fire management response offi-11
73+cials, and member agencies; and 12
74+(2) improving and integrating existing commu-13
75+nications systems to transmit secure real-time data, 14
76+alerts, and advisories to fire management response 15
77+officials and wildland firefighters. 16

120-tor shall allocate $3,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 20
