To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize the
President to grant a certain retired grade to the Director
of Admissions of a Service Academy.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Military Service Acad-4
emy Director of Admissions Act of 2023’’. 5
SEC. 2. RETIRED GRADE FOR THE DIRECTOR OF ADMIS-6
SIONS OF A SERVICE ACADEMY. 7
(a) U
NITEDSTATESMILITARYACADEMY.—Section 8
7342 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— 9

(1) by inserting ‘‘, or the Director of Admis-1
sions,’’ before ‘‘of the United States Military Acad-2
emy’’; and 3
(2) by striking ‘‘as such a professor’’ and in-4
serting ‘‘in such position’’. 5
(b) U
NITEDSTATESNAVALACADEMY.—Section 6
8470a(a) of title 10, United States Code, is amended— 7
(1) in paragraph (2), by inserting ‘‘and subject 8
to paragraph (3),’’ after ‘‘subsection (b),’’; and 9
(2) by adding at the end the following new 10
paragraph: 11
‘‘(3) Upon retirement, an officer of the Navy or Ma-12
rine Corps serving as a permanent professor, or the Direc-13
tor of Admissions, of the United States Naval Academy 14
in the grade of captain or colonel, and whose service in 15
such position has been long and distinguished, may, in the 16
discretion of the President, be retired in the grade of rear 17
admiral (lower half) or brigadier general.’’. 18
(c) U
NITEDSTATESAIRFORCEACADEMY.—Section 19
9342 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— 20
(1) by inserting ‘‘, or the Director of Admis-21
sions,’’ before ‘‘of the United States Air Force Acad-22
emy’’; and 23
