| 38 | 38 | | (1) provide grants for research to support and 9 |

| 39 | 39 | | elevate the importance of the US-ASEAN partner-10 |

| 41 | 41 | | (2) facilitate activities to strengthen US- 12 |

| 42 | 42 | | ASEAN trade and investment; 13 |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (3) expand economic and technological relation-14 |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | ships between ASEAN countries and the United 15 |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | States into new areas of cooperation; 16 |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | (4) provide training to United States citizens 17 |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | and citizens of ASEAN countries that improve peo-18 |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | ple-to-people ties; 19 |
