To require the Inspector General of the Department of De-
fense to submit an annual report on oversight of fraud, 
waste, and abuse, and for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Defense Spending 4
Oversight Act of 2024’’. 5

SEC. 2. INSPECTOR GENERAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DE-1
FENSE ANNUAL REPORT ON OVERSIGHT OF 2
FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE. 3
(a) R
EPORTREQUIRED.—The Inspector General of 4
the Department of Defense shall submit to Congress and 5
the Comptroller General of the United States a detailed 6
annual report containing— 7
(1) a description of the budget of the Depart-8
ment of Defense, the total amount and dollar value 9
of oversight investigations into fraud waste and 10
abuse conducted by the Department of Defense Of-11
fice of Inspector General, and the total amount and 12
dollar value of oversight investigations into fraud, 13
waste, and abuse conducted by the Offices of Inspec-14
tor General of each of the military departments; 15
(2) statistical tables showing— 16
(A) the total number and dollar value of 17
oversight investigations completed and pending, 18
set forth separately by type of oversight inves-19
tigation; 20
(B) the priority given to each type of over-21
sight investigation; 22
(C) the length of time taken for each type 23
of oversight investigation, both from the date of 24
receipt of a qualified incurred cost submission 25

and from the date the oversight investigation 1
begins; 2
(D) the aggregate cost of performing over-3
sight investigations, set forth separately by type 4
of oversight investigation; and 5
(E) the total number and dollar value of 6
oversight investigations that are pending for a 7
period longer than one year as of the end of the 8
fiscal year covered by the report, and the fiscal 9
year in which the qualified submission was re-10
ceived, set forth separately by type of oversight 11
investigation; 12
(3) a summary of any recommendations of ac-13
tions or resources needed to improve the oversight 14
investigation process; and 15
(4) any other matters the Inspector General 16
considers appropriate. 17

UBLICAVAILABILITY.—Each report submitted 18
under subsection (a) shall be made publicly available. 19
