1717 SECTION 1. TERMINATION OF DESIGNATION OF THE IS-3
1818 LAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN AS A MAJOR 4
1919 NON-NATO ALLY. 5
2020 (a) I
2121 NGENERAL.—Effective beginning on the date 6
2222 of the enactment of this Act— 7
2323 (1) the designation of the Islamic Republic of 8
2424 Pakistan as a major non-NATO ally pursuant to 9
2525 section 517(a)(1) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 10

2929 1961 (22 U.S.C. 2321k(a)(1)) or any other provi-1
3030 sion of law is hereby terminated; and 2
3131 (2) the President may not issue a separate des-3
3232 ignation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a 4
3333 major non-NATO ally pursuant to section 517(a)(1) 5
3434 of such Act or any other provision of law unless the 6
3535 President submits to Congress a certification de-7
3636 scribed in subsection (b). 8
3737 (b) C
3838 ERTIFICATION.—A certification described in this 9
3939 subsection is a certification that contains a determination 10
4040 of the President that— 11
4141 (1) Pakistan continues to conduct military oper-12
4242 ations that are contributing to significantly dis-13
4343 rupting the safe haven and freedom of movement of 14
4444 the Haqqani Network in Pakistan; 15
4545 (2) Pakistan has taken steps to demonstrate its 16
4646 commitment to prevent the Haqqani Network from 17
4747 using any Pakistani territory as a safe haven; 18
4848 (3) the Government of Pakistan actively coordi-19
4949 nates with the Government of Afghanistan to re-20
5050 strict the movement of militants, such as the 21
5151 Haqqani Network, along the Afghanistan-Pakistan 22
5252 border; and 23
