2525 NGENERAL.—The Secretary of Defense shall 7
2626 submit to Congress a report on the effect of section 622 8

3333 (b) C
3434 ONTENTS.—The report submitted pursuant to 4
3535 subsection (a) shall include the following: 5
3636 (1) An assessment on the effect that section 6
3737 622 of the National Defense Authorization Act for 7
3838 Fiscal Year 2020 (Public Law 116–92; 133 Stat. 8
3939 1427) and the amendments made by such section 9
4040 had on beneficiaries and any unintended con-10
4141 sequences that were a result of such section or 11
4242 amendments. 12
4343 (2) An evaluation of the authority that the Sec-13
4444 retary has in a situation when the Defense Finance 14
4545 Accounting Service cannot verify the eligibility of a 15
4646 spouse and payments are paused for the child. 16
4747 (3) Recommendations for legislative action to 17
4848 ensure the Secretary has the flexibility to make pay-18
4949 ments under subchapter II of chapter 73 of title 10, 19
5050 United States Code, to dependent children that are 20
5151 under the guardianship of someone other than the 21
5252 surviving spouse. 22
5353 (4) An assessment of the process of the Depart-23
5454 ment for determining eligibility for survivor benefits 24
5555 under subchapter II of chapter 73 of title 10, United 25
