20 | 20 | | EFINEDTERM.—In this Act, the term 4 |

21 | 21 | | ‘‘ASEAN’’ means the Association of Southeast Asian Na-5 |

25 | 25 | | thorized to enter into a public-private partnership for the 8 |

34 | 34 | | sion of law, the US-ASEAN Center established pursuant 4 |

35 | 35 | | to subsection (b) may— 5 |

36 | 36 | | (1) provide grants for research to support and 6 |
---|
37 | 37 | | elevate the importance of the US-ASEAN partner-7 |
---|
38 | 38 | | ship; 8 |
---|
39 | 39 | | (2) facilitate activities to strengthen US- 9 |
---|
40 | 40 | | ASEAN trade and investment; 10 |
---|
41 | 41 | | (3) expand economic and technological relation-11 |
---|
42 | 42 | | ships between ASEAN countries and the United 12 |
---|
43 | 43 | | States into new areas of cooperation; 13 |
---|
44 | 44 | | (4) provide training to United States citizens 14 |
---|
45 | 45 | | and citizens of ASEAN countries that improve peo-15 |
---|
46 | 46 | | ple-to-people ties; 16 |
---|
47 | 47 | | (5) develop educational programs to increase 17 |
---|
48 | 48 | | awareness for the United States and ASEAN coun-18 |
---|
49 | 49 | | tries on the importance of relations between the 19 |
---|
50 | 50 | | United States and ASEAN countries; and 20 |

51 | 51 | | (6) carry out other activities the Secretary of 21 |

52 | 52 | | State considers necessary to strengthen ties between 22 |

53 | 53 | | the United States and ASEAN countries and achieve 23 |
