94113 living, the amount of compensation under this sec-20
95114 tion shall be in an amount that is the greater of 21
96115 $50,000 or the total amount of compensation for 22
97116 which the individual is eligible under paragraph (2). 23

160185 ‘‘(1) Any leukemia, other than chronic 4
161186 lymphocytic leukemia, provided that the initial expo-5
162187 sure occurred after the age of 20 and the onset of 6

200227 ployer-issued or government-issued document or 16
201228 record that the claimant, for at least 2 years 17
202229 after January 1, 1949, was physically present 18
203230 in an affected area; or 19
204231 ‘‘(B) other documentation determined by 20
205232 the Attorney General to demonstrate that the 21
206233 claimant, for at least 2 years after January 1, 22
207234 1949, was physically present in an affected 23

211240 purposes of determining physical presence under this 2
212241 section, a claimant shall be considered to have been 3
213242 physically present in an affected area if— 4
214243 ‘‘(A) the claimant’s primary residence was 5
215244 in the affected area; 6
216245 ‘‘(B) the claimant’s place of employment 7
217246 was in the affected area; or 8
218247 ‘‘(C) the claimant attended school in the 9
219248 affected area. 10

241272 2024, the Secretary of Energy, acting through the Direc-3
242273 tor of the Office of Legacy Management, shall award to 4
243274 an eligible association a cooperative agreement to support 5
244275 the safeguarding of human and ecological health at the 6
245276 Amchitka, Alaska, Site. 7

247278 EQUIREMENTS.—A cooperative agreement 8
248279 awarded under subsection (a)— 9
249280 (1) may be used to fund— 10
250281 (A) research and development that will im-11
251282 prove and focus long-term surveillance and 12
252283 monitoring of the site; 13
253284 (B) workforce development at the site; and 14
254285 (C) such other activities as the Secretary 15
255286 considers appropriate; and 16
256287 (2) shall require that the eligible association— 17
257288 (A) engage in stakeholder engagement; and 18
258289 (B) to the greatest extent practicable, in-19
259290 corporate Indigenous knowledge and the partici-20
260291 pation of local Indian Tribes in research and 21
