3636 NGENERAL.—Section 402 of the Personal Re-7
3737 sponsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 8
3838 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1612) is amended— 9
3939 (1) in subsection (a)(2), by adding at the end 10
4040 the following: 11
4141 ‘‘(N) E
4242 XCEPTION FOR CITIZENS OF FREE -12
4343 LY ASSOCIATED STATES.—With respect to eligi-13
4444 bility for benefits for any specified Federal pro-14
4545 gram, paragraph (1) shall not apply to any in-15
4646 dividual who lawfully resides in the United 16
4747 States in accordance with section 141 of the 17
4848 Compacts of Free Association between the Gov-18
4949 ernment of the United States and the Govern-19
5050 ments of the Federated States of Micronesia, 20
5151 the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the 21
5252 Republic of Palau, and who is a citizen of one 22
5353 of those three nations.’’; and 23
