38 | 38 | | Mint (referred to in this subsection as the ‘Direc-9 |

39 | 39 | | tor’), in consultation with the Secretary, may modify 10 |
---|
40 | 40 | | the metallic composition of circulating coins to a new 11 |
---|
41 | 41 | | metallic composition (including by prescribing rea-12 |
---|
42 | 42 | | sonable manufacturing tolerances with respect to 13 |
---|
43 | 43 | | those coins) if a study and analysis conducted by the 14 |
---|
44 | 44 | | United States Mint, including solicitation of input 15 |
---|
45 | 45 | | (including input on acceptor tolerances and require-16 |
---|
46 | 46 | | ments) from industry stakeholders who could be af-17 |
---|
47 | 47 | | fected by changes in the composition of circulating 18 |
---|
48 | 48 | | coins, indicates that the modification will— 19 |
---|
49 | 49 | | ‘‘(A) reduce costs incurred by the tax-20 |
---|
50 | 50 | | payers of the United States; 21 |
---|
51 | 51 | | ‘‘(B) be seamless, which shall mean the 22 |
---|
52 | 52 | | same diameter and weight as United States 23 |
---|
53 | 53 | | coinage being minted on the date of enactment 24 |
---|
54 | 54 | | of this subsection and that the coins will work 25 |

67 | 67 | | shall submit to Congress notice that— 9 |

68 | 68 | | ‘‘(A) provides a justification for the modi-10 |
---|
69 | 69 | | fication, including the support for that modi-11 |
---|
70 | 70 | | fication in the study and analysis required 12 |
---|
71 | 71 | | under paragraph (1) with respect to the modi-13 |
---|
72 | 72 | | fication; 14 |
---|
73 | 73 | | ‘‘(B) describes how the modification will 15 |
---|
74 | 74 | | reduce costs incurred by the taxpayers of the 16 |
---|
75 | 75 | | United States; 17 |
---|
76 | 76 | | ‘‘(C) certifies that the modification will be 18 |
