47	47	This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Smithsonian National 2
48	48	Museum of the American Latino Act’’. 3
49	49	SEC. 2. SITE OF SMITHSONIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE 4
50	50	AMERICAN LATINO. 5

55	55	N GENERAL.—Notwithstanding any other 8
56	56	provision of law or regulation, including section 9
57	57	8908(c) of title 40, United States Code, the Smith-10
58	58	sonian National Museum of the American Latino 11
59	59	may be located within the Reserve (as defined in sec-12
60	60	tion 8902(a) of title 40, United States Code). 13

62	62	ONFORMING AMENDMENT .—Section 14
63	63	201(g)(4) of division T of the Consolidated Appro-15
64	64	priations Act, 2021 (20 U.S.C. 80u(g)(4)) is amend-16
65	65	ed by striking ‘‘, except that’’ and all that follows 17
66	66	and inserting a period. 18

83	83	agency or entity without first notifying the head 3
84	84	of the Federal agency or entity. 4

86	86	OTIFICATION TO COMMITTEES .— 5
87	87	Once notified under subparagraph (A), the head 6
88	88	of the Federal agency or entity shall promptly 7
89	89	submit written notification to the Chair and 8
90	90	ranking minority members of the Committee on 9
91	91	Rules and Administration, the Committee on 10
92	92	Appropriations, and the Committee on Energy 11
93	93	and Natural Resources of the Senate, and the 12
94	94	Committee on House Administration, the Com-13
95	95	mittee on Natural Resources, the Committee on 14
96	96	Transportation and Infrastructure, and the 15
97	97	Committee on Appropriations of the House of 16
98	98	Representatives, stating that the Federal agen-17
99	99	cy or entity was notified by the Board of Re-18
100	100	gents that a site under its jurisdiction was des-19
101	101	ignated and that a transfer will be initiated as 20
102	102	soon as practicable. 21
103	103	‘‘(C) T
104	104	RANSFER.—As soon as practicable 22
105	105	after the date on which the individuals de-23
106	106	scribed in subparagraph (B) receive the written 24
107	107	notification described in such subparagraph, the 25

128	128	programs of the Museum accurately and 15
129	129	comprehensively represent the varied cul-16
130	130	tures, histories, events, and values of His-17
131	131	panic or Latino communities. 18

133	133	PECIFIC REQUIREMENTS .—In 19
134	134	carrying out its duties, the Board of Trust-20
135	135	ees shall ensure that it seeks and utilizes 21
136	136	to its maximum ability guidance from a 22
137	137	broad array of knowledgeable and re-23
138	138	spected sources reflecting the diversity of 24
139	139	the political viewpoints and authentic expe-25

148	148	EFINITIONS.—In this subpara-5
149	149	graph— 6
150	150	‘‘(I) the term ‘broad array’ 7
151	151	means a range of experts and publica-8
152	152	tions that represent the broad spec-9
153	153	trum of Hispanic or Latino commu-10
154	154	nities, to include varied viewpoints, 11
155	155	political ideologies, cultures, and lived 12
156	156	experiences in the United States; and 13
157	157	‘‘(II) the term ‘knowledgeable 14
158	158	and respected source’ means an indi-15
159	159	vidual who has gained through edu-16
160	160	cation, publication, or witnessing an 17
161	161	important or historical event, the abil-18
162	162	ity to advise on at least one unique 19
163	163	viewpoint or experience of a particular 20
164	164	Hispanic or Latino community, and 21
165	165	whose knowledge has been relied upon 22
166	166	by a notable segment of that commu-23
167	167	nity for education, heritage preserva-24
168	168	tion, or historical purposes, and in-25

176	176	EPORTS TOCONGRESS.—Not later than 120 4
177	177	days after the date of enactment of this Act and every 5
178	178	2 years thereafter, the Secretary of the Smithsonian shall 6
179	179	submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the 7
180	180	House of Representatives, the Committee on Energy and 8
181	181	Natural Resources of the Senate, the Committee on House 9
182	182	Administration of the House of Representatives, the Com-10
183	183	mittee on Rules and Administration of the Senate, the 11
184	184	Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the 12
185	185	House of Representatives, the Committee on Appropria-13
186	186	tions of the House of Representatives, and the Committee 14
187	187	on Appropriations of the Senate, a report on actions taken 15
188	188	by the Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of 16
189	189	the American Latino Museum and the Board of Trustees 17
190	190	of the Museum to comply with the requirements of the 18
191	191	amendments made by subsection (c), including a descrip-19
192	192	tion of actions taken with respect to substantial revisions 20
193	193	of current exhibits and programs as well the planning of 21
194	194	future exhibits and programs. 22

196	196	FFECTIVEDATE.—This section and the amend-23
197	197	ments made by this section shall take effect as if included 24
