To amend the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020 to require
periodic reviews and updated reports relating to the De-
partment of State’s Taiwan Guidelines.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. PERIODIC REVIEWS AND UPDATED REPORTS 3
OF THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE’S TAIWAN 4
GUIDELINES UNDER THE TAIWAN ASSUR-5
ANCE ACT OF 2020. 6
Section 315 of the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020 7
(Public Law 116–260; 134 Stat. 3100) is amended— 8
(1) in subsection (c)(1), by adding at the end 9
before ‘‘; and’’ the following: ‘‘and any successor 10

guidance’’; and 2
(2) by adding at the end the following: 3
‘‘(d) P
ERIODICREVIEWS ANDUPDATEDREPORTS.— 4
‘‘(1) I
N GENERAL.—For as long as the Depart-5
ment of State’s guidance that governs relations with 6
Taiwan described in subsection (a) remains in effect, 7
the Secretary of State shall conduct periodic reviews 8
as described in subsection (a) and submit updated 9
reports as described in subsection (c) not less fre-10
quently than every two years following the submis-11
sion of the initial report described in subsection (c). 12
‘‘(2) M
ATTERS TO BE INCLUDED .—Such up-13
dated reports shall include— 14
‘‘(A) a description of how the guidance 15
meets the goals and objectives described in 16
paragraphs (1), (2), and (3) of subsection (b); 17
and 18
‘‘(B) an identification of opportunities and 19
plans to lift self-imposed restrictions on rela-20
tions with Taiwan.’’. 21
