A BILL
To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to stand-
ardize work requirements for able-bodied adults enrolled
in the supplemental nutrition assistance program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘America Works Act 4
of 2025’’. 5
SEC. 2. AMENDMENTS. 6
(a) A
MENDMENTS TO THE FOOD ANDNUTRITION 7

CT OF2008.—Section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition 8
Act of 2008 is amended— 9

(1) by amending paragraph (3) to read as fol-1
lows: 2
‘‘(3) E
XCEPTION.—Paragraph (2) shall not 3
apply to an individual if the individual is— 4
‘‘(A) under 18 or over 65 years of age; 5
‘‘(B) medically certified as physically or 6
mentally unfit for employment; 7
‘‘(C) is a parent or other member of a 8
household with responsibility for a dependent 9
child under 7 years of age; 10
‘‘(D) otherwise exempt under subsection 11
(d)(2); or 12
‘‘(E) a pregnant woman.’’, and 13
(2) by amending subparagraph (4)(A) to read 14
as follows: 15
‘‘(A) I
N GENERAL.—On the request of a 16
State agency and with the support of the chief 17
executive officer of the State, the Secretary may 18
waive the applicability of paragraph (2) to any 19
group of individuals in the State if the Sec-20
retary makes the determination that the county 21
or county-equivalent in which the individuals re-22
side has an unemployment rate of over 10 per-23
cent.’’, and 24
