40 | 40 | | (2) 2,977 people were killed during the attacks, 7 |

41 | 41 | | marking the single worst foreign attack on United 8 |
---|
42 | 42 | | States soil since Pearl Harbor in 1941. 9 |

43 | 43 | | (3) In New York City, 2 planes hit the Twin 10 |
---|
44 | 44 | | Towers during the attacks, causing both 110-story 11 |
---|
45 | 45 | | towers to collapse in less than 2 hours, as well as 12 |
---|
46 | 46 | | destroying 5 other buildings in the World Trade 13 |
---|
47 | 47 | | Center complex, leaving a death toll of 2,753 people, 14 |
---|
48 | 48 | | including all passengers and crew members of Amer-15 |
---|
49 | 49 | | ican Airlines Flight 11 and all passengers and crew 16 |
---|
50 | 50 | | members of United Airlines Flight 175. 17 |
---|
51 | 51 | | (4) During the attacks, American Airlines 18 |

52 | 52 | | Flight 77 struck the side of the Pentagon, killing 19 |

55 | 55 | | Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, killing 22 |

77 | 77 | | around the country who participated in the rescue, 15 |

78 | 78 | | recovery, and relief efforts, due to their exposure to 16 |

79 | 79 | | the dust, smoke, and debris. Thousands of others 17 |
---|
80 | 80 | | have died due to illnesses and injuries relating to the 18 |
---|

83 | 83 | | Museum at the World Trade Center is continuously 21 |

84 | 84 | | dedicated to remembering, reflecting, and educating 22 |
