respect to permitting terms, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMI-3
NATION SYSTEM (NPDES) TERMS. 4
(a) I
NGENERAL.—Section 402(b)(1)(B) of the Fed-5
eral Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 6
1342(b)(1)(B)) is amended to read as follows: 7
‘‘(B) are for fixed terms— 8
‘‘(i) not exceeding 10 years, for a permit 9
issued to a State or municipality; and 10

the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 5
1342(l)(3)) is amended— 6
(1) in subparagraph (B)— 7
(A) by striking ‘‘section 402’’ and insert-8
ing ‘‘this section’’; and 9
(B) by striking ‘‘federal’’ and inserting 10
‘‘Federal’’; and 11
(2) in subparagraph (C)— 12
(A) by striking ‘‘Section’’ and inserting 13
‘‘section’’; 14
(B) by striking ‘‘402(p)(6)’’ and inserting 15
‘‘subsection (p)(6)’’; 16
(C) by striking ‘‘402(l)(3)(A),’’ and insert-17
ing ‘‘subparagraph (A),’’; and 18
(D) by striking ‘‘402(l)(3)(A).’’ and insert-19
ing ‘‘such subparagraph.’’. 20
