21 | 21 | | This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Safe Routes Act of 4 |

23 | 23 | | SEC. 2. VEHICLE WEIGHT EXEMPTIONS. 6 |

24 | 24 | | Section 127 of title 23, United States Code, is 7 |

33 | 33 | | cation of any vehicle weight limit established under 3 |

36 | 36 | | OVERED LOGGING VEHICLE DEFINED .— 5 |
---|
37 | 37 | | In this subsection, the term ‘covered logging vehicle’ 6 |
---|
38 | 38 | | means a vehicle that— 7 |
---|
39 | 39 | | ‘‘(A) is transporting raw or unfinished for-8 |
---|
40 | 40 | | est products, including logs, pulpwood, biomass, 9 |
---|
41 | 41 | | or wood chips; 10 |
---|
42 | 42 | | ‘‘(B) is traveling a distance not greater 11 |
---|
43 | 43 | | than 150 air miles on the Interstate from origin 12 |
---|
44 | 44 | | to a storage or processing facility; and 13 |
---|
45 | 45 | | ‘‘(C) meets State legal weight tolerances 14 |
---|
46 | 46 | | and vehicle configurations for transporting raw 15 |
---|
47 | 47 | | or unfinished forest products within the State 16 |
---|
48 | 48 | | boundaries in which the vehicle is operating. 17 |

49 | 49 | | ‘‘(3) A |

50 | 50 | | PPLICATION OF WEIGHT TOLERANCES .— 18 |

51 | 51 | | The waiver in this subsection shall only apply with 19 |

52 | 52 | | respect to a State legal weight tolerance in effect on 20 |
