as the ‘‘Salem Maritime National Historical Park’’, and 
for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Salem Maritime Na-4
tional Historical Park Redesignation and Boundary Study 5
Act’’. 6
SEC. 2. SALEM MARITIME NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK. 7
(a) R
EDESIGNATION.—The Salem Maritime National 8
Historic Site shall hereafter be known and designated as 9
the ‘‘Salem Maritime National Historical Park’’. 10

(b) REFERENCES IN LAW.—Any reference to the 1
Salem Maritime National Historic Site in any law, regula-2
tion, map, document, record, or other paper of the United 3
States shall be deemed to be a reference to the Salem Mar-4
itime National Historical Park. 5
SEC. 3. BOUNDARY STUDY. 6
(a) I
NGENERAL.—The Secretary shall conduct a 7
boundary study to evaluate the suitability and feasibility 8
of including in the National Park System, as part of the 9
Salem Maritime National Historical Park (as redesignated 10
by section 2(a)), sites and resources in the study area as-11
sociated with the study area’s— 12
(1) maritime history; 13
(2) coastal defenses; and 14
(3) military history, including National Guard 15
and militia activity. 16
(b) R
EPORT.—Not later than 3 years after the date 17
on which funds are made available to conduct the study 18
required under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit 19
to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of 20
Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Nat-21
ural Resources of the Senate a report containing— 22
(1) the results of the study; and 23
(2) any findings, conclusions, and recommenda-24
tions of the Secretary. 25

(c) DEFINITIONS.—In this section: 1
(1) S
ECRETARY.—The term ‘‘Secretary’’ means 2
the Secretary of the Interior. 3
(2) S
TUDY AREA.—The term ‘‘study area’’ 4
means Salem, Massachusetts, and its vicinity, and 5
includes the Salem Armory Visitor Center building 6
and adjacent Salem Armory Park. 7
