Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Survivor Benefits Fair-4
ness Act’’. 5

AND PENSION UNDER LAWS ADMINISTERED 4
BY SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS. 5
(a) I
NGENERAL.—Section 5112(b)(1) of title 38, 6
United States Code, is amended by striking ‘‘last day of 7
the month before’’ and inserting ‘‘last day of the month 8
during which’’. 9
(b) E
FFECTIVEDATE.—The amendment made by 10
subsection (a) shall apply with respect to a reduction or 11
discontinuance of compensation, dependency or indemnity 12
compensation, or pension by reason of a marriage, remar-13
riage, or death occurring on or after the date of the enact-14
ment of this Act. 15
