1717 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
1818 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Federal Law Enforce-4
1919 ment Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act’’. 5
2020 SEC. 2. PURCHASE OF RETIRED FIREARMS BY FEDERAL 6
2121 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. 7
2222 (a) I
2323 NGENERAL.—Not later than 1 year after the 8
2424 date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of Gen-9
2525 eral Services shall establish a program under which a Fed-10

3030 arm from the Federal agency that issued the firearm to 2
3131 such officer. 3
3232 (b) L
3333 IMITATIONS.—A Federal law enforcement offi-4
3434 cer may purchase a retired firearm under subsection (a) 5
3535 if— 6
3636 (1) the purchase is made during the six-month 7
3737 period beginning on the date the firearm was so re-8
3838 tired; and 9
3939 (2) with respect to such purchase, the officer is 10
4040 in good standing with the Federal agency that em-11
4141 ploys or employed such officer. 12
4242 (c) C
4343 OST.—A firearm purchased under this section 13
4444 shall be sold at the salvage value for such firearm taking 14
4545 into account the age and condition of the firearm. 15
4646 (d) D
4747 EFINITIONS.—In this section— 16
4848 (1) the term ‘‘Federal law enforcement officer’’ 17
4949 has the meaning given that term in section 18
5050 115(c)(1) of title 18, United States Code, and in-19
5151 cludes a retired Federal law enforcement officer; 20
5252 (2) the term ‘‘firearm’’ has the meaning given 21
5353 that term in section 921(a) of title 18, United 22
5454 States Code, excluding any machinegun (as defined 23
5555 in section 921(a)(24) of such title) not lawfully pos-24
5656 sessed before section 922(o) of such title took effect; 25

6060 (3) the term ‘‘retired firearm’’ means any fire-1
6161 arm that has been declared surplus by the applicable 2
6262 agency; and 3
6363 (4) the term ‘‘salvage value’’ means the value of 4
6464 an asset after it has become useless to the owner or 5
6565 the amount expected to be obtained when a fixed 6
6666 asset is disposed of at the end of its useful life. 7
