| 20 | 20 | | SEC. 2. PURCHASE OF RETIRED FIREARMS BY FEDERAL 6 |

| 23 | 23 | | NGENERAL.—Not later than 1 year after the 8 |

| 24 | 24 | | date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of Gen-9 |

| 33 | 33 | | IMITATIONS.—A Federal law enforcement offi-4 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | cer may purchase a retired firearm under subsection (a) 5 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | if— 6 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (1) the purchase is made during the six-month 7 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | period beginning on the date the firearm was so re-8 |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | tired; and 9 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (2) with respect to such purchase, the officer is 10 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | in good standing with the Federal agency that em-11 |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | ploys or employed such officer. 12 |

| 43 | 43 | | OST.—A firearm purchased under this section 13 |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | shall be sold at the salvage value for such firearm taking 14 |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | into account the age and condition of the firearm. 15 |

| 47 | 47 | | EFINITIONS.—In this section— 16 |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | (1) the term ‘‘Federal law enforcement officer’’ 17 |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | has the meaning given that term in section 18 |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | 115(c)(1) of title 18, United States Code, and in-19 |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | cludes a retired Federal law enforcement officer; 20 |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | (2) the term ‘‘firearm’’ has the meaning given 21 |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | that term in section 921(a) of title 18, United 22 |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | States Code, excluding any machinegun (as defined 23 |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | in section 921(a)(24) of such title) not lawfully pos-24 |
|---|
| 56 | 56 | | sessed before section 922(o) of such title took effect; 25 |
