31 | 31 | | not be eligible to receive any grant, loan (other than a 2 |

32 | 32 | | loan described in subsection (b)), or work assistance under 3 |

33 | 33 | | title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 4 |

34 | 34 | | 1070 et seq.) and shall repay, in accordance with sub-5 |

35 | 35 | | section (b), the sum of the amounts of any grant received 6 |
---|
36 | 36 | | under such title, if the individual has been convicted of 7 |
---|
37 | 37 | | a criminal offense— 8 |
---|
38 | 38 | | (1) of assault against a police officer; or 9 |
---|
39 | 39 | | (2) of rioting, the elements of which may in-10 |
---|
40 | 40 | | clude— 11 |
---|
41 | 41 | | (A) inciting a riot; 12 |
---|
42 | 42 | | (B) organizing, promoting, encouraging, 13 |
---|
43 | 43 | | participating in, or carrying on a riot; 14 |
---|
44 | 44 | | (C) committing any act of violence in fur-15 |
---|
45 | 45 | | therance of a riot; or 16 |
---|
46 | 46 | | (D) aiding or abetting any person in incit-17 |
---|
47 | 47 | | ing or participating in or carrying on a riot or 18 |
---|
48 | 48 | | committing any act of violence in furtherance of 19 |
