A BILL
To amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to require
certain additional provider screening under the Medicaid
program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Medicare and Medicaid 4
Fraud Prevention Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. MEDICAID PROVIDER SCREENING REQUIREMENTS. 6
Section 1902(kk)(1) of the Social Security Act (42 7
U.S.C. 1396a(kk)(1)) is amended— 8
(1) by striking ‘‘The State’’ and inserting: 9

‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—The State’’; and 1
(2) by adding at the end the following new sub-2
paragraph: 3
‘‘(B) A
DDITIONAL PROVIDER SCREEN -4
ING.—Beginning January 1, 2027, as part of 5
the enrollment (or revalidation of enrollment) of 6
a provider or supplier under this title, and not 7
less frequently than quarterly during the period 8
that such provider or supplier is so enrolled, the 9
State conducts a check of the Death Master 10
File (as such term is defined in section 203(d) 11
of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013) to deter-12
mine whether such provider or supplier is de-13
ceased.’’. 14
