A BILL
To prohibit the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier
Safety Administration from issuing a rule or regulation
requiring certain vehicles to be equipped with speed lim-
iting devices, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Deregulating Restric-4
tions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-wheelers Act’’ 5
or the ‘‘DRIVE Act’’. 6

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Ad-3
ministrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Adminis-4
tration may not issue any rule or regulation to require 5
vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 6
pounds operating in interstate commerce to be equipped 7
with a speed limiting device set to a maximum speed. 8
