To amend the Federal Crop Insurance Act to require the
Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to carry out re-
search and development regarding a policy to insure
table, wine, and juice grapes against losses due to a
freeze event, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Grape Research And 4
Protection Expansion Act’’ or the ‘‘GRAPE Act’’. 5

Section 522(c) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act (7 4
U.S.C. 1522(c)) is amended by adding at the end the fol-5
lowing: 6
‘‘(20) T
ABLE, WINE, AND JUICE GRAPES.— 7
‘‘(A) I
N GENERAL.—Not later than 1 year 8
after the date of the enactment of this para-9
graph, the Corporation shall carry out research 10
and development, or offer to enter into 1 or 11
more contracts with 1 or more qualified persons 12
to carry out research and development, regard-13
ing a policy to insure table, wine, and juice 14
grapes against losses due to a freeze event. 15
‘‘(B) A
VAILABILITY OF POLICY.—Notwith-16
standing the last sentence of section 508(a)(1), 17
and section 508(a)(2), not later than 18 18
months after the date of the enactment of this 19
paragraph, the Corporation shall make available 20
a policy described in subparagraph (A) if the 21
requirements of section 508(h) are met. 22
‘‘(C) R
EPORT.—Not later than 2 years 23
after the date of enactment of this paragraph, 24
the Corporation shall submit to the Committees 25
on Appropriations and Agriculture of the House 26

‘‘(i) the results of the research con-4
ducted under subparagraph (A); and 5
‘‘(ii) a description of the policies made 6
