A BILL 
To prohibit funds made available to the Department of Edu-
cation by previous Appropriations Acts from being used 
for any activity relating to implementing a reorganization 
of the Department, and for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Department of Edu-4
cation Protection Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. FINDINGS. 6
Congress finds the following: 7

(1) Congress has a fundamental role in shaping 1
and reshaping the Federal agency landscape, includ-2
ing by— 3
(A) providing oversight; 4
(B) creating, structuring, and locating of-5
fices; 6
(C) delegating specific or general missions, 7
powers, duties, and functions to offices and offi-8
cers; 9
(D) defining the parameters of personnel 10
systems; 11
(E) confirming the leadership of an agen-12
cy; 13
(F) providing funding; and 14
(G) evaluating whether or not an agency 15
shall continue in existence. 16
(2) The current organization of the Department 17
of Education is designed to promote student achieve-18
ment and equal access to education, including 19
through the following offices and institutes of the 20
Department: 21
(A) Federal Student Aid. 22
(B) The Institute of Education Sciences. 23
(C) The Office of the Chief Information 24
Officer. 25

SEC. 3. PROHIBITING USE OF APPROPRIATED FUNDS TO 1
REORGANIZE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. 2
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, none of 3
the funds made available by previous Appropriations Acts 4
to the Department of Education for obligation or expendi-5
ture in the current fiscal year may be used for any activity 6
relating to implementing a reorganization of the Depart-7
ment that decentralizes, reduces the staffing level of, or 8
alters the responsibilities, structure, authority, or 9
functionality of the Department, relative to the organiza-10
tion and operation of the Department on January 1, 2025. 11
