To direct the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Af-
fairs to notify United States citizens regarding passport
expiration and renewal, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Passport Notification 4
Act of 2025’’. 5
SEC. 2. REQUIRED NOTIFICATION REGARDING PASSPORT 6
EXPIRATION AND RENEWAL. 7
(a) R
EQUIREMENT.—For each United States citizen 8
in possession of a valid unexpired passport, not later than 9

180 days prior to the date on which such passport is 1
scheduled to expire, the Assistant Secretary of State for 2
Consular Affairs shall provide to the United States cit-3
izen— 4
(1) a notification regarding such pending expi-5
ration date; and 6
(2) information on the process for the renewal 7
of such passport, including an identification of any 8
relevant locations at which materials required for 9
such renewal may be submitted. 10
(b) F
ORM.—Each notification required under sub-11
section (a) may be submitted in electronic or paper form. 12
(c) A
PPLICABILITY.—The requirement under sub-13
section (a) shall apply with respect to passports the expi-14
ration of which is scheduled to occur on or after the date 15
that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this 16
Act. 17
